It's Economics, Stupid |
That's it! I've had it! I can't take the stupidity any more. Today's reporting about Exxon Mobil's profit and the Senate's kowtow-ing to ignorant constituents has driven me over the edge. Drudge, you're fired! Senate Republicans, you're fired!
It's simple supply-and-demand economics. How will $100 checks and taxing "windfall" oil company taxes increase fuel supplies? It won't! Drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and in the Gulf of Mexico will, though. Investing in nuclear power will, too.
Again, it's real simple: The gas companies' profit on a gallon of gas is about 9 cents; state and federal tax on a gallon of gas is around 43 cents (higher if you live in NY or CA). So it goes that since Exxon Mobil made a 3-month profit of $8,400,000,000, the US Government definitely brought in way more than that! Where's the outrage at the tax gouging? Huh? Where is it?!
Someone find my indian suit...! |
